Our Approach

Redens Alpacas - Continuous improvement

We believe that outstanding females form the basis of a great herd. We started by selecting females from Inca Alpaca and to that foundation we have continued to add excellent females from Inca, EP Cambridge and Fowberry Alpacas. We mated these females to sires with prize winning genetics to create a breeding program that produces offspring with good confirmation and traits such as fineness and density to continue to improve our herds genetics. These females have produced excellent progeny with their offspring giving us a group of mostly black alpacas that carry these strong genetics. They are well framed animals that carry a large quantity of luxurious fibre and produce strong and healthy cria.

We do not have wholly owned stud males instead selecting well known sires to enhance the genetics and traits of our female herd including Jack of Spades of Inca, Fowberry Nobility, Lavender Park Tulley and Alpaca Stud’s Nyetimber. In addition we have a significant ownership stake in in three influential males; Poppham Thunder (40%), Surtierra Shadow (50%) and Toft Timogen (25%) This approach has given us great flexibility and has created a herd that is predominately black with excellent genetics.

Our breeding program has produced very pleasing results and we are now able to offer some beautiful females for sale from the 45 we have at Redens. Some of these Redens females, pregnant to Sutierra Shadow are available. In addition we have a number of potential stud males and friendly pet boys available.
